Re: Research Topics

If in any way I make the impression that I believe that finances don't matter and that technology is the name of the game: I know first hand that finances and technology go hand in hand for any commercial project.
But perhaps the question here is: how can we exchange views on this List re a desired string of developments -and mutually learn and benefit- without getting into region-specific discussions dominated by local financial plusses and minuses which strongly vary in time.

Andries:

I think your idea has real merit. First, it will cause us to place a reality check on all the options. Second, it will bring out any misconceptions that one or more of us might have about a particular fuel or technology, as some involved in this interest group are bound to be more technically strong than others. Finally, a cost-based ranking is simply a logical starting point.

Of course, when dealing with any energy project, very much including biomass, local issues are exceedingly important, and no project can be successful without the appropriate nod to local requirements, fuel logistics, energy law and customs.

Having said that, I do agree that we ought to work on a listing of the alternatives with some general review of non-confidential cost data.
