Re: Biomass

Hello John and all,

Wind energy is most conveniently used when connected to a very large utility grid, with wind farms located at many different locations to replace power generated by conventional units.  Hydroelectric power is particularly convenient in this regard and almost renewable.

Relatively dry agricultural waste and MSW are best utilized as energy by simple incineration with steam recovery in complience to regulations regarding incinerator design and resulting emissions.  Manure from animal operations is effectively managed by locating the animal facility in a semiarid climate, and so using solar energy to try the manure for return to the fields that grew the grain that was fed to the animals.  The semiarid Texas Panhandle has be come a center for beef feedlots in the past 30 years, and now large dairies are moving to the area west of Lubbock, TX, where I live.
