Re: DIG-L: Anaerobic digestion

I would like to make a couple of points relating to Chuck Steiners post
which started 

"To justify mesophilic over thermophilic digestion because of its
claimed better process stability and beneficial nutrient yield
represents incorrect thinking.  The principal purpose of treatment is to
maximize the removal of pollutants by conversion to solids."

1) I believe the second sentence above should start with IF, as not
everyone is only interested in destroying organic matter - other
purposes are to generate energy or to be part of an integrated system
that may not cope with the original waste easily.

2) I also belive we need to think outside our normal little worlds - not
everyone has access to engineers, labs, technicians and capital nor do
they need a big system. AD seems to me to be quite scalable both in size
and technology - very small and simple systems are just as capable of
producing biogas as huge, technologically advanced plants (and may just
happen to be a bit easier to manage).

Getting philosphical, the "western world" has a lot to answer for in
promoting "high Tech" solutions to sell product when much more
appropriate technology is already available and may need slight adaption
rather than full on replacement.

Thanks for the article, Chuck, the information is good but we are not
all starting at the same point.
