Dear Group

In order to demonstrate the safety of some of the first flexible liner
digesters one was set on fire at Cornell in the early 80's. It took some
considerable effort to get it to ignite and it then just slowly burned from
one end to another. No explosions, although it depends on the circumstances
as has been stated. A video was taken at the time although I guess it has
been lost in the mists of time by now.

On the other hand I just got back from Costa Rica looking to replace some
settling lagoons with a "formal" digester. One worker caused a spark with
his tools and blew his eyebrows off. He was OK, but I think I'd prefer to be
working with a digester!
