Subject: Fw: DIG-L: Fw: biogas books
OK, I didn't know how much detail I should go into with my initial request,
but, so here are some details: My hope is to be able to produce enough
biogas to cook with , and run a gas refridgerator. I realize alot more than
that can be done with the gas ( like running a water heater, and a generator
for electricity), but I do not think I will ever have enough animals to
produce that amount of gas. At the moment I only have 2 big dogs, 6 sheep,
one goat, a rabbit, a banty hen, and an adult llama. Eventually ( by this
time next year at the latest) we will have a quite a few more chickens ( I'm
thinking possibly a hundred-ish) easily twice, or more, the number of
sheep, a couple dozen rabbits, and either a few milk goats, or one small
(jersey) milk cow, and 2 or 3 feeder pigs/piglets, in addition to the dogs,
and llama. Sorry to be so vague on the number of animals, but these are all
still near future plans.
What I am looking for in a book, is one that contains information on
construction of the most simplest biogas digestors. The kind a person could
construct her/his self, if they had to. In addition I,d like some info on
how to use this gas, like how to modify natural gas appliances to run on
biogas, and aproximately how much is needed for those appliances. Lots of
photos/diagrams, and examples would be great, too. What I don't need is
plans or information on gigantic tank digestors that are designed to handle
the waste generated by huge dairy cow business's, or 100's of sow farrowing
operations. Now, maybe there is no such book available? I don't know.
Those of you on the list who have read, or seen some of the books
available, please let me know which ones you liked the best, or which were
the most informative, or helpfull for you, or which ones were worthless.
Has anyone on the list built any simple digestors? How did it work? What
are you running on biogas? Any information, advice, suggestions, and book
recomendations or reviews, are very appreciated. I hope these details are
what was needed. Oh, btw, I live in south eastern Nebraska. Thank you to
everyone for your help. Oh, yes, how does one get ahold of Dr. Tim
Lucas?
Thanks,
Janet Snider.

If you let the list know a little about what you want to use and where you
want to do it we could help. No one book is a; do all, tell all, for all,
locations. Dr. Tim Lucas has a program that costs you nothing, to get the
right system.
