Re: DIG-L: digester accidents

Dear Marty,
I have never heard of such an accident with a biogas
digester. To make an explosion, you have to mix the biogas with air or more
particularly oxygen. Because most biogas plants work under a slight
positive pressure, gas may leak out but air would not leak in. Therefore it
would be most unlikely for an explosive mixture to occur within a confined
space that might maximise the force of an explosion. The main safety factor
is to always have your gas bag outside. If you had a tear or accident with
your gas bag then you would get quick dispersion of any potentially
explosive problems.
