1. ".... I'm interested in anaerobic digestion to produce methane to use for cooking, driving gas engine. ...." enquiry by Julian 2. Marty replied ".......for iron oxide I think you can use steel wool, you can just put a wad of it in a removable part of your gas outlet pipe and change it every six months........." With regard to what I know of your project - I plan to use steel wool also - but a byproduct is water so a drain point nearby is required. I would recommend that you consider using green matter with the cattle manure as it gives a better yield of methane. Like you, I am interested in building a small scale digester in order to utilise the gas. I am very keen to discuss design objectives and methodologies to attain these objectives. Since you plan to scrub the biogas - how do you plan to boost the gas pressure (which I think you will have to do) in order to scrub it and then to store it? I see from websites, that commercial operators are delivering the gas, via a blower, to engines or boilers at about 150mm (manometer pressure of water).
