RE: DIG-L: Energy from internal heating of horse manure
Hello there,
AD is indeed exothermic yet much less so than aerobic digestion; e.g.,
digestion of 1 mol Glucose yields:
aerobic: 890 kJ thermal energy + 1980 kJ in biomass
anaerobic: 2360 kJ in biogas + 312 kJ thermal energy + 198 kJ in biomass
Complete methanisation of lipids is exergonic only if hydrogen partial
pressure ifrom fermentation of long chain fatty acids is s kept low by
suitable hydrogen utilising bacteria.
