We do *not* recommend soldering lugs for the same reason soldering is
forbidden on this type of aircraft connection.  Unless you have industrial
soldering equipment, it is not possible to get everything evenly heated, and
you will get a cold joint.  Also, the solder will wick up into the cable,
making it stiff, and making the strands brittle and subject to breakage.  I
have cut open some of these connections (which I was replacing with proper
crimped lugs).  The ones I was replacing were "commercially" done, but the
solder connection inside was random and incomplete.  The lug showed visible
signs of corrosion and heat damage both inside and out, and the insulation
was scorched.
