Motor questions

Hi Evers -

I was browsing through the Burden Surplus catalog, and was wondering if any
of their DC motors would be useful for EV applications. My question is,
which rating can you safely exceed - amps or volts? Here are the motors
that might be useful:

10-1402 - SCHABMULLER 36VDC, 6.5HP, 176amps, 6"diam, (doesn't tell whether
series, shunt, etc.), no RPMs listed, 30%duty cycle - $199.50
10-1507 - GE 36-72VDC, 3-6HP, 85amps, 7"diam, series, 3000-6000RPM,
60-30min rating - $239.50
10-1401 - SCHABMULLER 36VDC, 6HP, 150amps, 10"diam (at flange), series,
1885RPM, 60min rating - $319.99
10-1422 - GE 48VDC, 5.6HP, 113amps, 10.5"diam (w/ flange; probably <8"
body), series, 1200RPM, 1hr duty - $339.95
10-1491 - SKURKA 24VDC, 4.75HP, 260amps, 3.5"diam, compound, 7500RPM, int.
duty - $79.99

They also have generators that can be used as motors...same question - can
you give them higher volts:

6-961 - BENDIX 30VDC, 400amps, 7"diam, 3100-8000RPM - $197.50
6-920/6-936 - JACK & HEINTZ 30VDC, 500amps/400amps, 11"diam (at flange),
4000-8000RPM - $199.50/$179.50
6-982 - Military surplus (BENDIX 30B37-47) 24VDC, 300amps, 7.5"diam,
4500-8000RPM - $199.95
6-973 - Military surplus G22 30VDC, 300amps, 8"diam, 2500-6500RPM - $169.50

Does anyone have experience with any of these kind of motors/generators?
Are they inefficient, or just cheaper? And what kind of power can you get
out of them at higher-than-rating inputs?

Thanks-
Russell Levine
