I've been using my PalPilot for the last year to do exactly that; collect data f
rom an E-Meter. The code for the Pilot is written in C using the Metroworks env
ironment and the code on the desktop (Macintosh) is Java. I'm happy to share ei
ther or both. I've made a little mount for the Pilot in the car and display vol
t and amp continuously in large 1" high numbers. There are two state of charge
bars on the side that calculate state of charge based on battery volts and amps
  used (based on peukerts equation).
