Other controller experts may correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't a 9"
Advanced DC motor a bit big for a Curtis 1221 controller?

- A number of people have had reliability problems with this combination.
- The 9" motor has such low resistance that the controller's current limit
  cannot act fast enough to limit the peak current.
- Because of the low voltage, you'll be running at high current more often,
  aggravating the problem.

I would think you want a very high current, rugged controller to be
trouble-free in this application. What do the experts think?
