CRX Conversion
Hello,
I'm new to this list... I'm just starting a conversion of a 1987 Honda CRX.
I removed the stupid gas tank today!
I was hoping I could get a few hints on what sort of equipment to get.
I'm hoping to make it a pretty sporty conversion. I don't need a lot of
range. I'm going to keep my gas car (A honda Civic) for longer trips. I
was thinking that I would do 144 volts and use an advanced 9 inch
(FB1-4001) motor. I have no clue what sort of controller to use and I'm
trying to decide on batteries as well. It would be nice to have
Regenerative braking but I have heard that people have had trouble with
that (at least with the Zapi controllers).
I am thinking of using Optima Yellow tops but I'm not sure about the AH
rating on them. Would I get a decent range with 12 yellow tops. I'm
hoping to have at least a 50 mile range.
The optimas look good to me because they are light and they are sealed.
Anyway, basically I'm looking for any helpful hints that people have. I'm
new at this and currently all I have to go from is information that I have
collected off the web.
Thanks,
-Jeremy
