Re: OT: Towing EVs

Hi  All;

    If the drive train is complete, no engine, why not tow in gear?? If you're
 in 4th
or 5th spins slower, and most important, things inside the tranny stay LUBED. I
destroyed a Corvair tranny towing it 1200 miles in neutrel, in my last conversi
 on.
If I'd have known better then I woulda let the motor turn in gear, and pulled th
 e
brushes out. Same way new subway cars are delivered, when moved in freight
trains.

     As for Rabbit gliders, I made a quick bearing retainer with a 1/2 " bolt an
 d flat
washers on each side of the bearings, tightened like hell, so the bearings would
stay together. VERY IMPORTANT, ifya tow a Wabbit with the CV shafts out!

   On my upcoming Rabbit conversion, looks like it'll be my Spring ride, have
welded heavy brackets to the bumper mounts for a home brew towbar that can
be hooked up easily, and stowed aboard, if, God forbid, needed.

   Just my 2  bytes worth.

   Bob
