No arugment with the first couple points.  However "built by an EV company,
rather than an individual who just built one" depends on the company and the
individual.

First, this was not just a one-off Rabbit conversion.  This was a
Voltsrabbit kit.  There are more than forty of these cars out there, and
they are more standardized than the "production" cars from some companies I
won't name (not Solectria).  They are specified down to the last nut and bolt.

Second, this was not just some guy.  Dan Fitzsimmons is an Electro
Automotive Pro-Mech.  He is a professional career mechanic who owns and
operates a Mercedes repair shop.  He took our hands-on Pro-Mech training.
This car was, in essence, built by Electro Automotive.

Yes, it is wise to look closely at the mechanical credentials of a private
converter.  It is also wise to look closely at the mechanical credentials of
some conversion companies.
