Doesn't Curtis recommend the 1231 not be used with an AdvDC 9" motor?
First, he ought to look for a different controller or motor, then he might
consider a two-speed differential. These usually use an electric clutch,
and may give him enough low-end RPMs to not burn up either the controller
or motor...at least he could start from a stop in the equivalent of third
or a high second gear, rather than fourth. Of course, electric
differentials are used on fairly large vehicles, so maybe a two-speed
transfer case from a little SUV (e.g.-Samurai) could be adapted...?
