I like your idea Bill but, I'm not really sure that it's necessary.  My
plan is
to put the "economy relay" in series with the evaporator thermostat; not
to
bypass the evaporator thermostat.  That way if the the evaporator
thermostat is
open (cold evaporator; like 35 degrees) the compressor will not run and
the evaporator
should not ice.  "Compressor braking" will be re-enabled when the
evaporator warms up a bit
(to perhaps 45 degrees) and the thermostat closes.  So, I suppose in a
scenario where
I have to brake at every traffic signal compressor braking may only be
enabled for half of the
stops; depending on how hot the weather is...

I'm not an air conditioning pro. Please let me know if my thinking is
garbled.
