Gino,

I second the motion to hear what's happening in France.  My wife and I just
returned from a long visit to your beautiful country (just before Coupe de
Monde).  We saw EV evidence in many places:

        1.  A postal vehicle (Citroen) recharging in front of the city hall
in
              Versailles

        2.  Several Parking lot signs in various neighborhoods of Paris
             that had a little car with a cord on it as part of the sign.

        3.  The car museum in Mulhouse with EV exhibits

        4.  A brochure that said you could rent an EV in La Rochelle.

We were walking down a street in Paris.  My wife was looking in the shop
windows, and said "isn't that an EV?".  It was a Peugot 106.  We went in
and the saleswoman was very friendly.  She answered questions (Nicads) and
gave us a video and brochure.  (I still haven't found a machine that will
play the video.)
