INSULATION RATING
Hi Michael. The GE motors, according to our local motor repair
shop are rated class H. Note that the lettering system is old,
and has been replaced by a numbering system. Class H is good
for up to 135 degrees C, although the motor shop says it should
take 140 degrees for the one hour intermittent duty that the
motor is officially rated for (forklift duty). That is not the
problem. When the copper gets hot from overcurrent abuse,
even 500 degrees centigrade is not enough. For more info,
see my recent posts (in the archive) telling a tale of woe in
the school of hard experience.
