One rear quarter panel of my C-car was damaged early in its life (probably
16 years ago). It was repaired with fiberglas. The patch has small cracks
around it, and the paint never quite matched (who knows what the real color
code was), but it's otherwise held up pretty well for all these years.

I have been told that ABS patches can be cemented from behind with PVC pipe
cement, then smoothed with glass-reinforced mud like Duraglas. I have not
tried this, however.

I think that restoring an entire body that's been killed by sunlight would
be a daunting task. Replacement would be ideal, and I hear that some new
old stock body panels are still around, though door skins are nearly
impossible to find. And I hate to think what the cost would be to replace
the majority of the panels.

Hmmm, do you suppose one could lay a coat of fiberglass cloth and resin
over the plastic if it weren't absolutely crumbling?
