Does size matter?

As I search for an EV to buy, I am noticing that all those I
have seen for sale fall broadly into the compact class or the
truck/van class. I haven't seen a mid-size sedan of any kind, unless
the Silver Volt II is one - it is a bit hard to tell from their web
site.

I could just ask outright, but the attempt to deduce is much
more fun, so I'll state my conclusion and ask for confirmation or
denial from the list. I believe that the power to weight ratio is
efficient only if the EV is very light or has large payload capacity -
which is to say that a mid-size conversion (like a Plymouth Acclaim,
or Ford Taurus) has too heavy a donor car for the gain in potential
battery payload. Am I close?

As always, thanks-
Pat
