When I did it, I flew to where the car was, bought a gas car, had a hitch
installed on it, and towed the electric 3000 miles. Then I sold the gas car.

Can't help you here. Paid cash.

Never had any problems with my company, Westfield National. They work
through independent agents. When I requested coverage for the C-car, the
agent had to call the home office, but a couple days later he said "no
sweat." They did tell me that if I wanted collision on my Honda at full
value as an electric, I would have to have it appraised. However, this is
no different from their policy for restored antiques.
I have heard of people being told flat-out that their electrics are
"uninsurable." Generally, this means that you need a new agent because the
agent can't be bothered with calling to find out how to write the policy.
Best of luck.
