Severity of shocks is very dependant on the individual. My late grandfather
used to work with someone who could feel as little as 2 volt. Over the years
I've had a number of hand to hand 240v 50 Hz AC schocks, none of them severe.
Worst was when I recieved a mild shock from network cabling whilst working up a
stepladder, I fell off! When you have RS232 cables 1/2 mile long strange things
can happen.
