It certainly works, and has been used in innumerable EVs. Usually
scratch-built though, since most conversions have no room for two motors.

I liken patents to carrying an unloaded gun. It works great for threatening
people as long as you don't have to actually use it. If you *do* need to use
it, you'll find the ammunition is VERY expensive, and the consequences severe!

Patents are useless if you spend a fortune getting them, and then just throw
them in a drawer and forget them. But they are desirable, even necessary in
certain situations. They'll scare off a corporate jackel looking for a fast
easy meal, but won't stop a well funded hungry lion.
