Run-Awat DC Controllers

I might have missed it, or purhaps I am just niaeve, or simple minded,
but when my old Curtis " Hummer" gave way in the FULL ON mode
some 6 years ago, it took me exactly 1.36 seconds to :
#1 Depress the clutch to unload the motor, and reduce current, and
#2 turn the car off using the key and main contacter under near no
load conditions...

Purhaps this fast reaction came from years of driving the little
French LeCar "Lectric Leopards" which in their BASIC MODEL had
a simple two step relay system, 1/2 voltage at 1/2 foot throttle,
and full voltage, at peddel to the metal throttle setting. And as
you went from no power to 1/2 power to full power, you DID use the
clutch to de-couple the torque, and to make and break the relays at
minimum current load.

Any way, my two cents would be very quick acting secondary breakers
and of course the BIG RED button electro-mechanical breakers as well.

Course if the thing fails at a cross walk, right in front of a mother
and a baby carriage.... well... I don't know what to say about
that... ( one in a million, ten million ? )( part of the risk of
living in the late 20th century, start of the 21st century ?? )
