Indeed, there is a workable $199 system!
However, the ZAP single motor/the EROS motor is a bit larger than each of
the similar motors used in ZAP's dual system. EROS is, of course, also
on-tire drive but the EROS' modest clamp attachment is not comparable to
ZAP's. The EROS unit does not have a lock-down lever. (We use, instead, a
standard wire+lever on the handle bar to lift the roller on/off the tire).
ZAP does not use a 3-speed system. The dual ZAP is two-speed (with regen in
low), while the single ZAP as well as the EROS are one-speed.
