Dear Brandon,
Matsushita of Japan, the parent company of Panasonic (mentioned
previously by respondent
Marc Kohler of Dax), produces a wide variety of NiMH modules for major
auto manufacturers
including Toyota and Honda. Varta of Germany also produces excellent
EV-sized NiMH modules.
Saft maintains operations in both France, the U.S. and several other
countries. And Ovonic
Battery (parent company: Energy Conversion Devices in Troy, MI) licenses
its NiMH battery
technology to dozens of other global (primarily Asian) battery
manufacturers. A list of these
companies may be found in some Energy Conversion Devices Annual Reports
to Stockholders.
I assume from your address that you are either a student or
educator. If so, you may find it
quite difficult to obtain more than general information about these
products and manufacturers
because this remains a highly competitive and fast-changing global
market. You can, however,
download a GM/Ovonic battery "guide" with specifications from the Ovonic
website at:
www.Ovonic.com.
I do not know of any "exhaustive lists" of NiMH manufacturers, but
you may be able to do
additional research through specialized battery publications that may be
found in engineering
libraries. Good luck, and please tell us more about your project.
