RE: GROUND FAULT IN MOTOR?

Hi all,

A couple of years ago, I had the motor in my Citicar rebuilt, and the
shop that did the work reported they had to leave the armature in a
"oven" to dry it out for almost 11 hours, if I recall correctly. It
seems that the armature was full of moisture, and this was shorting it
to ground. I wasn't too surprised to hear this, as I had found the car
sitting partially sunk in a field where it had been for about 6 years.
Of course, the bizare part was I had repaired the car and driven it for
almost 4 years before I had the motor rebuilt. Hmmm, no wonder it never
worked all that well. The car was noticeable more efficent and powerful
after the motor rebuild.

Thanks,

Mike Chancey
