Brazed, Soldered or What?

Hi all,

I am fixing up an '80 Comutacar that I bought last week (yes, I needed
another EV project like a hole in the head). The previous owner had
replaced the battery cables and some of the contactor cables. Somehow
an over-length cable was allowed to rub against one of the field
terminals on the motor and a catastrophic short resulted. The field
terminal was burned off the motor, and sort of welded itself into the
offending cable. Now otherwise the motor is fine, and checking it with
a multimeter it showed no shorts to ground. I have already removed it
from the car, and was hoping to just replace the melted terminal. How
on earth are those connected to the field windings? It kind of looks
like solder, or is it brazing, or something else? I am starting to
suspect what ever it is, I will have to pay someone else to repair it.
Could anyone give me some hints here?

Thanks,

Mike Chancey
