EV drivers in California have another good reason to feel smug lately.
Due to several unrelated major refinery problems, the cost of gasoline
has jumped over 50 cents/gallon in the last week (at least in Northern
California where I live).  This is largely windfall profit taking by the
the refiners, but it's being exaggerated by typical consumer panic
buying.  In some of the smaller towns, and out on the Coast, prices have
reached $2/gallon and higher.

Ha!   Too Cool!  I really love my personalized NOO GAS license plate
now!

I wasn't even aware there was a problem till yesterday when the driver
sitting next to me at a traffic light rolled down his window and
hollered, "Bet you're feelin' happy now."  To which I went, "Huh?"  And
he pointed out the gas prices at the station across the street.
