New Aust electric bicycle

Saw an article on a new Australian built electric powered bike last night
on ABC TV news 1.35am. It’s made in Darwin, the spokesman was Bill
Patterson from the Centre For Energy Resources. I’m not convinced of the
total accuracy of the report as it said ‘This is the first electric powered
bicycle without a gearbox. This has only been feasible in the economic and
engineering sense in the last 3 years. The motor is just steel and copper’
They said it’s made for the mass SE Asian & China mass markets and
negotiations are being made for manufacture in Hong Kong and China.
Looks to me like a 26’ bike, Gel battery on the carrier,
controller/electronics hung from under the main top tube and front hub motor.
