80 JET 007 more HELP needed (long)

Well, here comes some more of that snowball effect I was talking about...

Since the last time I posted about the clutch flutter noise, I haven't had
much time to look at the problem (putting in extra hours at work, and
relatives visiting), but I was preparing to pull the motor back out. I put
the car back up on jacks, pulled the batteries out of the front box, and
loosened the battery box and propped it up and out of the way. Since I
hadn't gotten much farther, and my step-father, who knows more about cars
than I do, was visiting, I thought I would put it back together enough for
me to tap the accelerator and give the motor a spin so that he could hear
the noise.

Well, I put two of the 12v batteries back in the front box, which brought me
up to 108v (normal is 120). Voltage meter didn't budge, but I thought it
would be enough to spin the motor. I know that once I had a terminal melt,
and I was able to drive home on 114v (back when I had 6v batteries). I
stepped on the accelerator (car still jacked up), but the motor didn't spin.
Didn't even try. So, I put the 3rd battery back in the front box to bring
it up to full voltage. The voltage meter went up to about 100% (batteries
have been sitting for a couple of weeks), but I stepped on the accelerator,
and nothing happened. I tried letting the car back down off of the jack
stands, still nothing (sounds silly, but I thought maybe there was someting
that would disable it if the car was being towed). Usually when this
happens, it is because I forgot to close the emergency disconnect after I
had been working on the car, but then the voltage meter registered 0%. I
even tried cleaning the contacts, just to be sure, but still nothing.

Time to break out the multi meter. It appears that there is no voltage
coming from the controller to the motor. So, I look for power going into
the controller. None. Seems there is no power getting through the main
contactor. There IS power getting to the main contactor. The line coming
from the rear battery pack to the MC is a direct line that I just replaced
with 2/0 cable, and there was/is no fuse in that run (not to mention, if a
fuse had blown, the voltage meter would read 0%).

I tested the output from the accelerator pot, and it looks OK. I can hear
the micro switch in the pot box clicking on and off, but I still get nothing
through the MC.

I can't imagine what happened to the MC. It worked fine 10 days ago when I
had first put the clutch in, and I haven't used it since then, until this
past weekend when I tried to spin up the motor.

What are the opinions out there? did the MC go kaffluey? did I blow a fuse
somewhere? what can I test that I have overlooked?

Sorry for the long-windedness, but I am trying to give as much useful info
as possible.

PS this is all the stock equipment from JET (except for the batteries), SCR
controller, GE motor, GE accelerator pot...

Thanks,

Greg Pokorny
