Insufficient air in the front tire causes what motorcyclists call "death
wobble."
Maybe that is an appropriate name.
The bicycles that are used in the Haleakala descent have motorcycle drum
brakes laced into the front wheels.
I had a bicycle in high school that had a Yamaha 80 brake drum laced into
the front wheel. I put it together after I had to get a friend out of a tree
after he went off a mountain road during one of our downhill races. The drum
was about 6 inches in diameter and an inch wide. It worked real well.
