Status: EV charging at Fry's ...

I had left a message with the contact I was given last Friday > no
answer.

Called again on Monday and left another vmail.

I also called the main number and asked for a person I could talk to
that handles all the store's facilities > the dippy receptionist hung up
on me in her attempt to transfer me.

I called back and tried again. This time I left a general message
asking for the contact I should talk to with words like ...

:: sweet tongued EVangel mode ::

"I am the Editor of the ELECTRIC Vehicle List. We have several
ELECTRIC vehicle drivers that regularly patronize your store, and they
would like to explore with you, the possibility of using an available
120 VAC outlet. They can not use the GM chargers at the Sunnyvale
store.

The GM ELECTRIC vehicle chargers you have in the front of the store
are Beautiful, but are only good for GM ELECTRIC vehicles. By the
way, GM's ELECTRIC vehicles are not available. There is a waiting
list to get them in this area.

I would like to talk to you about how this low cost installation could
improve your visibility, increase the patronage at your store, and the
PR value is immeasurable ... "

 ...
I got a call today. Now the ball is in my court. I will be faxing my
contact (can you believe they don't have and outside email?) my
proposal with some URLS (but they do have outside access to the web
!?!) of some EV charging installations and outlets.

>From the EV List POSTs and the direct emails I have received, the
target focus will be at 1st:

- 1 120 VAC 20 amp 5-20 duplex outlet with a built in gfi using an
  outdoor enclosure (cover)

- The Fry's store in Sunnyvale

- We will be flexible on the location (does not have to be with the GM
  charger in front).

I am going to propose that we ask that the one outlet be mounted on
the outside wall of the building that has parking near the Car Audio
MASH unit. I am going ask that the EV outlet be at least 10 parking
spaces down from the Audio Dept. doors (this is least used parking,
yet close enough to the main entrance, and should be an inexpensive
installation - punch through the wall and mount and outlet).

Put success with this in your EV prayers ;-)
