PREVIEW 2000: TEMPE TO GET 31 HYBRID ELECTRIC BUSES
Here's a bit of good news out of the often smog-choaked Valley of the Sun
in Arizona. The City of Tempe, home of Arizona State University, has just
placed a $7 million order for 31 hybrid-electric buses from Chattanooga's
AVS, the largest single order of its kind to date. Congratulations to both
cities.

EV PIONEER TAYLOR-DUNN PROPOSES UNIFIED MARKETING STRATEGY
What can the non-road EV industry do to help promote the conversion of
gasoline-powered industrial vehicles to electric? Taylor-Dunn VP of Sales
and Marketing, B. Samra proposes a strategy that encourages an alliance
between the industry, policy makers and environmental groups in his
presentation at EPRI's 1999 Non-Road EV Conference.

DIFFERENT ROADS: AUTOMOBILES OF THE NEXT CENTURY
Can't make to the New York Museum of Modern Art's fascinating exhibit
dedicated to the innovative cars of the next century? No problem, National
Public Radio's "Fresh Air" interviews the curator who has brought together
nine of the most earth-friendly car designs available today, including the
Prius and the EV1. THIS IS AN AUDIO ONLY FEATURE.

EDITOR'S BBC RADIO INTERVIEW
Last week, the BBC's Late Night talk show host, Rod Stone, called me to
talk about the current state of electric vehicle technology, in part
prompted by EV World reader, Paul Govan in the UK. The BBC gave me
permission to record my own interview, in case you weren't up at 3 AM in
the morning and listening to your short wave radio. THIS IS AN AUDIO ONLY
FEATURE.

DOUG MALEWICKI AND HIS ELECTRIC SKYTRAN - PART 2
Is it really possible to build a 100 mph (160km/hr) Personal Rapid
Transport system for $1-2 million dollars per mile? Doug Malewicki and his
partners think so. Be sure to read the final installment of our interview
and judge for yourself. Is SkyTran really feasible or just
pie-in-the-skytran?
