The TBI pump may be a good choice as it's designed to run submerged, but I 
don't know how long it would last at higher temps. A test unit should be 
junkyard accessible cheap I guess there is 1 way to find out!

I didn't use a converter or a pump on the Porche I did, it took a bit more 
fabrication on the pump drive, but I was happy with the outcome. When you 
applied the throttle, the motor would spin 3 or 4 times, the pump would apply 
the clutches and away I'd go. Crude but effective.
