I've not taken a close look at these things. Can the ATF pump be completely
seperated from the motor oil pump? If not one side would sieze in a hurry
<g>. If so it would make a nice self contained pump desinged for this
purpose. It should be rather quiet (positive displacement, with many small
chambers), provided you drive it with a quiet motor.
