Larry, why take the chance of possibly forgetting to step very carefully.
A resistor chart of values are in the Curtis 1231 handbook or owners
manual to provide an approximate resistor value to limit output of the
PWM.
I had a custom "T" handle with a button on my shifter and a relay with an
adjustable linear 2K pot to come on when the backup light is on. In
reverse it energizes relay and just do what is natural. I have very
little feeling in either leg so I also have extra springs added to the
Curtis pot box externally to help prevent a heavy foot to accelerate
truck through a wall.
The value of resistence is slightly different to limit PWM speed on 1221
and 1231.
I fee that use of a relay tends to make my S-10 more safer. Especially
now since Massachusetts inspectors now have to drive any vehicle in and
out of an inspection bay to DYNO test for emmisions. ROFL, where are
they going to put the wand to measure NOx and CO levels on a 120 volt
S-10?
I wonder if Curtis or Kodiak peoples will make a comercial relay box?
The cost of box, relay, relay socket, resistor, and variable resistor, is
just too expensive to make in onezies. I made one for EVA and he gave it
to an EVer in western part of state. That sudden lurch is now limited in
reverse in both Kodiak and curtis controllers.
The "T" handle switch provides a back up to prevent resitor to limit PWM
if I wanted to go fasteer.
