The evolving state of the the Reg Master Series. Seems though Smalley
has a list of flavors that is close to mine but not quite the same. That
list was w brain dump of mine without looking at Joe's List... great
minds..

A good chunk of the last few days have been doing product specs with
Joe. His blue box(Scorched DCP shell) has some of the reg master
circuitry in it. So... I brought it down to Joes for refit whilist I
collected the new 1/2 shaft for the Fiero, Standard Saturday chores,
with EVs and such mixed in. On the way back, I stopped to pick up the
charger.. and Joes says "watch this", Spark BAng!... oh  forgot to hook
up the gate drive. I said Joe don't the rarley survive.... Snap
bang!..... loss of gate at high voltage... bummer. Well ok I gotta get
home and let my back recover... That was the mornings run to Silverdale.
	The good point was watching the reg upgrade work with the old Rev D
mark1s. The simple circuit has a opto that sees the regs flashing, and
when any one gets over about %50 blink rate the Reg Master cranks back
the charge amps. This was working fantasticly on 24 and 12 vastly
different gelled batteries. Goodenough for Goldie. So I have one old reg
with it's "update Kit" and a new wiring interface on the JBBox.
	I got a phone call about5pm come 'engetit'. At this point I am 3
Ibuprofen and 1 hour of sleep crashed out on my bed, The EV world
doesn't want to know how much product design I have done with a phone in
my ear, trying to stay awake. I got the JBBox and the Reg+ in hand and
will install them into Goldie today.
	Nother point... the thermal cutout circuit that I need to keep all of
us from smoking Regs... is kinda useless if the reg cut back is working
and the load resistor on the heat sink is sized so melt down doesn't
happen at %50 blink rate. I still want to have thermal cut outs for
those customers that won't have a Reg Master. Help me on this folks. 
Saftey on all regs, or save some pennys and have it all depend on the
feed back wireing to the Reg Master.
	Resolution of Master flavores... The componets required for flavors
1,2,and 3, look to be all doable on one PCB. The division was 	Flavor 1
Logic control of off board Battery charger. Drives relay/solid
state 					switch.
				Flavor 2 direct control of a rectified DC supply. PWM control of a
Mosfet.
				Flavor 3 direct control of AC/DC suppy.

Basicly, adding a bridge, a 555 and a Mosfet gives you a nice refined
Bad boy with table manners. Feed it what ya can find for juice. 110v to
240 v. we will have 600 volt diodes and bridges on board. 20 amps is the
max for now. Ya need more... talk to me.
	LIMITATIONS: NON pfc or any filtering. Only the 96 volt to 144 volt
crowd will beable to use this set up with out external transformers and
inductors. Those of you with extension cords, Fairradio chargers, Bohn
chargers and the likes will beable to just wire your output through The
Reg Master and then have Temp Co, overvoltage and AGM regulation. You
will also have a LObatt out put to tell you that you are hurting a
battery on discharge. This device will live inside your EV and be
controller by the EV's house 12 power, or a battery tapped at 12 volts.
	PFC. We have boost power stages working. And pretty good ones I might
add. There are some limits... NO bucking allowed. Without a Buck
circuit, you CAN NOT go from 110VAC to under 144 volts. So.. NeonG..
120volts of Yts still needs the old non PCF stuff. Better yet for
racing.. Get a DCP 1200 Raptor,run it on 156volts and then this boost
stage will be just fine.
	The reason this all gets a bit unclear is the need for magnetics and
inductors for boosting/bucking and
phase re-adjustments. They are NOT cheap or easy to design. The best
Bang for the Buck is a simple boost circuit that hands off to a phase
controlled Buck circuit that has NO PCF in buck mode except for what
ever passive inductors that you have in line. This is a Flavor 4 with
phase control. 

First world chargers... are being defined by the feature set that we all
want for our homebuilt stuff.

I gotta go and get some testing done before the Goblins get here.

Oh yea I am gonna need some help with Manzanita's WEB page and home
site. I haven't touched it in 2 plus years.
any helpers???? 

Pretty soon I will have to yank this string off the open list, These
products are going comercial...Let me know when you all have had too
much.
