RE: Air Car is an EV
The air car does NOT use fuel according to Shiva Vencat. The engine can be
used in a lean burn car but that is not what this is.

The car is not truly air powered and not an EV, since if you read the
website you will see that it is partially powered by combustion of fuel. The
compressed air is fed into a standard ice type piston engine and heated by a
fuel explosion, which increases the energy of the air and eliminates the
problems with low temperatures that occur with purely air powered motors.
Other than lowering the pollution level compared to a standard ICE, I'm not
sure what the advantage of this engine is

I asked Shiva Vencat about his air car, if it was an EV since you plug it in
to charge for 4 hours and it uses an electric motor. Also on efficiency he
said 20 kwh is stored on charge and it uses .16 kWh per mile similar to the
EV-1. He also said that you do not need a special cooling system when
pressurizing the carbon fiber tanks to 3200 cubic feet at 4500 psi.

yes we want to be under that category because otherwise it will take along
time to get a compressed air category.. but we are in effect and electric
car
running on compressed air as a storage medium..
