   Basically, the answers are "yes" and "yes".  At NAEVI '99 in 
Atlanta last week, GM Hughes displayed a smaller paddle with
a removable plastic "horseshoe" adaptor that slides right into
the older, wider inductive charge ports in the GM EV1 and S10.
Presumably, the older users will carry a spare adaptor in the
glove box.  Older ("Gen 1") inductive chargers will eventually
have to be upgraded or replaced to accommodate the newer
dimensions as well as the newer communications protocols.
