Krylon's 1386 Green Epoxy Varnish is exactly what I used in my
modified Kostov motor in White Zombie, a motor that sees more than 250v
under a 600+ amp load at the end of my 1/4 mile runs. To date, there are
no visible signs of arcing at all, and the motor looks very healthy.
Most of the anti-arcing credit goes to the motor's interpole windings
(love 'em), the full advanced timing I run it at, and the brush
rigging/commutator changes I've made, but having the inside of the brush
end bell a nice pretty green gives me additional insurance.
Having high-voltage proofed a few motors, and having used Glyptol
in some of them, I find I like the Krylon product better. Stay away
from the clear version though, as when I tested the different color
options, the clear was too hard to tell if it had coated enough, where
with the colored ones, there's no doubt about it.
