RE: nubie questions

It seems to me that Hawkers & Optimas are comparably expensive, at
least where I am.

Hawkers & Optimas offer fairly similar performance, but the
disadvantage of YTs is that one size doesn't fit all, especially when
converting a sub-2000lb vehicle. Hawker offers other sizes so that
one has option of choosing between a couple of different pack voltages
for the same pack weight.

For example, assuming a 400# pack limitation, YTs restrict you to a 108V
maximum pack while the Hawker choices include the following maximums:

84V (7xG70)
144V (12xG38/G42)
168V (14-G16 buddy-pairs)
204V (17xG26)
216V (18-G13 buddy-pairs)
348V (29xG16)
444V(!) (37xG13)

Cheers,

Roger.

[snip]

You don't have much money but are planning on AC motors and Hawker
batteries? Optima Yellow Tops(YTs) are just as good as the Hawkers and a
whole lot cheaper. The YTs are basically the same thing as the Hawker
Cyclons only much bigger.
