Re: another newbe question
+ Could someone give me a couple of good basic book titles and authors to
+ help me get a good start. Thanks Charlie
Now for the opinion section...
"Build Your Own Electric Vehicle," for the person looking to convert a
vehicle, seems a bit longwinded on the history and advantages
portions. It take a while to get to the "meat" of the book... building
the vehicle (from which the title was born). But I haven't read all
the way through the conversion portion, so I won't comment on that
section's validity and content. As a reference book, I suppose it
would serve EV promoters well when looking for good ideas and
statistics to quote. It will give you something to mention to people
when out on the town talking about EVs.
"Convert It" was a good general description of how one is to convert a
vehicle. It has been a really long time since I read it, so I can't
elaborate any more on it. Short, but sweet. Michael Brown and Shari
Prange get to the point and tell you what's necessary.
"Battery Book One" is a good Lead Acid Batteries 101 book. The
breakdown of the battery will please the tear-it-open-to-see-how-
it-works people. And the charging section may help decide which
charger(s) to use and how to set their charge algorith(s). Once again,
this book may also be a decent reference book.
But this is just my two cents worth...

a king, they don't just go by size, because I bet there
are some Chihuahuas with some good ideas." -- Jack Handey
