Connector hunt

I had my heart set on getting a second Avcon male connector (the "handle"
part from the power control box), so I called Avcon's sister company,
Meltric (800-824-4031), but they don't deal with Avcon's business. They gave
me Avcon's number (877-423-8725), and the lady there said they won't sell
just the handle - if my charger plug gets run over, I'd have to send the
whole thing in! If I want the handle, I have to buy it with the 10/3 cable
with 18ga pilot line already attached, for $250! Now, they were selling the
whole setup for $295 for a while, but that was a "special deal". The 14-50
plug I want to put on the other end runs ~$10, and 10/4 cable was $0.99 a
foot, so I didn't want their cable at 10x the price of a heavier version.
Does anyone know of a cheaper source, or am I stuck with whatever Avcon will
charge? This sounds like a lesser version of the Magnecharger sole-supplier
cr*p - at least I'd only be overcharged $100-200, and then I could charge
from most any dryer outlet.
