I would like to call your attention to a highly
negative and inaccurate EV attack ("Thumbs
Down on Battery Powered Cars") written by
Washington Post Automotive Editor Warren
Brown that appears today (Friday) on the
Post's web site at:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A45838-2000Mar30.html
-- but not, apparently, in the newspaper
edition. Untold thousands of individuals
on the Web will nonetheless read Brown's
biased viewpoint and some may even
confuse this with factual newspaper
reporting.
Brown is an old-fashioned journalist
who has been at the Post for far too
long, and mostly celebrates cars with
tail fins, SUVs and anything with a big,
powerful IC engine. He is the author
of a book called "All American Cars
and Trucks" which fondly recalls
the overweight behemoths of days
gone by. He tends to use adjectives
like "wimpy" when reviewing any car
with less than six cylinders, and he
reserves a special disdain for EVs,
NGV's and anything associated
with the word "environmental".
Fortunately, you have an opportunity
to talk back! On Monday, April 3rd, at
11:00 a.m. Eastern Time, Brown will
host an ONLINE DISCUSSION about
battery-powered cars at:
http://discuss.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/zforum/00/brown000403.htm
or you can hyperlink from the "Thumbs
Down" article. I hope that you will set
aside some time on Monday morning to
let this dinosaur know how today's
consumers REALLY feel!
* With special thanks to EVA/DC's
Morris Altschuler, for calling this to
our attention,
