Re : Spouse EVs (was: TZero replacement for EV1)

On 30 Mar 00, at 9:56 PM, in reference to the Solectria Force EV, Daltrey
Barrington wrote "How much do these cost?".

Back in 1999 the base cost for a sealed battery Lead Acid Force was $28,000,
NiCD was $45,000 and NiMH was $48,000. It comes with 3.3 kW onboard
charger, 42 kW AC induction drive, automatic battery thermal management,
electric heater/defroster, etc. Options such as air conditioning, fuel
fired heater, etc. are extra. I thought it had power steering, but noticed
just now that it's not listed in the specs. Its small enough and light
enough that the steering is fine, power or not. Check it out at
http://www.solectria.com <http://www.solectria.com>

The vehicle is based on a Suzuki Swift, also sold as the GEO Metro. A nice
looking four door, four passenger car. The prices above may seem high in
comparison to a basic EV conversion with series DC motor, but they really
aren't if one compares apples to apples. And since these are new OEM
vehicles, they qualify for the IRS $4,000 tax credit and other state, local,
or utility credits/incentives.
