Hi all!,
Just wanted to add here that i've got the same controller on my E-bike with
a 24V, 3/4 HP motor, and the controller gets very hot with the motor hardly
heating up at all, (and the bike is geared for ~36, so certainly not geared
very low!). I doubt the controller can pass more than 40-45 amps for a few
minutes without melting solder, and a healthy 750 watt motor should be able
to take this, so my guess is that there's something wrong with the motor.

Good luck, and I hope this helps!,
