Having seen a working, home-built hydrogen fuel cell driving a small
EV, I believe fuel cells used for powering EVs are a legitimate topic
of discussion for this list. As for the automakers schedules, if we
are not prepared to wait for them to build us the EVs we want, why
should we wait for major corporations to build the fuel cells we may
want? There is lots of discussion on this list about optimizing the
life and performance of various types of batteries, various
chemistries, the advantages, disadvantages and costs of each.
There is even discussion of other hybrid technologies. Provided the
material regarding fuel cells is directly relevant to EVs, (e.g. why is
the fuel cell in my EV acting this way?, or new fuel cell technology
for EVs demonstrated at.., and not Utility X installs fuel cell to
meet peak load demands), I feel it is appropriate for it to be
discussed on this list.

Perhaps an "FC" tag in the subject line for these posts (like our
"OT" tag for Off Topic posts) would be an appropriate courtesy, at
least until fuel cells are more mainstream within the EV
community?
