approved: EV List Charter

We have approval to use the new EV List Charter.
*** AS of Today 5/31/00 1pm PST will use the new EV List Charter.
 http://www.geocities.com/evdl_web/evdlcharter.txt

The New EV List Charter, reverses the restrictions placed by
the last revision. Except for some definitions of what can be
POSTed (html, ads, announcements, etc.) this EV List Charter
is the same as Clyde's.

The poll lasted only one week longer than the last one, and
the third week of this poll was very low response (3 polls).
With 17% of the subscribers responding, those who took the
time, I thank you.

To those members who had complained in the past, you will have
to tolerate the changes to the Electric Vehicle industry.

However, everyone should make sure to follow the EV List Charter,
and do not deviate into long drawn out ICE, Fuel, politics, oil
debates. Members have the right to POST "please take this
thread offline'.

There have been very few comments about this EV List Charter.
Only one major one we may want to heed. Don McGrath pointed
out Mike Thompson's poll comments: if more than 20% of the
EVDL bandwidth is from hybrid and fuel cell POSTs, Mike will
seriously consider removing the funding from the EV List
archive web site. I do not know how many of you that would
impact, but it would impact me. I use that web page, for
quick access (no matter where I am).

...
:: Editor hat on ::
As for my own bandwidth eating newswire POSTs, the Poll
clearly states that some hybrid and fuel cell newswire items
are wanted. I am thinking of using an idea that was put in
the poll comments. That is to POST a summary of items in
one POST, and if anyone wants the whole story, they can
go to the site where I archive my newswires.

Your views on this is appreciated. My gut says to not make
too many changes too quickly, and give time for all the
EVDL members to adjust. So, I may POST a limited amount and
see who/how many complain.
